The Otaihanga Boating Club has a rich history and a special place in the community.

We have a surprise!
The Otaihanga Boat Club has purchased a Community Defibrillator for the Otaihanga Community. With a small donation from Kapiti Rotary we have used the proceeds from weddings and other venue hires to provide you with this life-saving piece of eqipment available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We will have a free training course for members and the wider Community run by Wellington Free Ambulance within the next couple of months. Once the dates are confirmed we will post dates and times on our Noticeboard and on our Facebook page. It will be around 7.00pm on a week night and numbers will be limited so let Deb (firstname.lastname@example.org) know if you would like to attend.
We are very pleased to be able to provide this for the Otaihanga Community and we now show up on the AED locations app which is free download for your phone. This is a mobile 24 hour accessible defibrillator which is released with a code given by 111 operators.
We have some amazing old photos in our archives (that are in the process of being sorted for display!) of boats anchored right outside and an historical constitution that we are currently in the process of transcribing with included amendments that have been made over the years.
We are keen to include more social events and gatherings for members and would love to hear from you if you would be interested in being a part of a Social Committee.
At the moment the hall is regularly used by the Kapiti Photography Club on Monday evenings, Qui Dong on Monday mornings, Kathy Lyall painting group Wednesday evenings, and by a coffee morning group on Friday mornings, Sunday afternoons we have Ivy Ashby, a local caterer, who uses the hall and puts on amazing $10.00 Devonshire Teas which are open to all and very good value.
The Boat Club is run and maintained by a small Committee who mostly volunteer their time in-between their real lives and, like any voluntary organisation, extra hands and input are always welcome! The Committee will be around doing some maintenance work over the weekends of February the 10th and 16th so do feel free to pop in at some stage and introduce yourselves!
The Boat Club is planning a Raft Race for the April School Holidays. Check the Noticeboard and our Facebook page for updates and entry forms!
Some members have been muttering about a Mid Winter Xmas feast …. Stay posted…. If anyone is keen to help out with man power or ideas please do let us know.
